Welcome to FMC Community Child Care Centre

Opened in 1986, The Community Child Care Centre at Flinders Medical Centre is a not-for-profit Centre situated in a beautiful bush-land setting that provides high quality care for children from 6 weeks to school commencement.

Directors :

Julianne Docherty –Dip.T. (E.C.E), Behav.Sc.(Psychology), BHealthSc.(Psych.Hons.), MAPS

Julianne believes that it is strong relationships that form the basis of children’s emotional resilience and cognitive development. It is this belief that underpins the Centre’s overall philosophy. After commencing at FMC.C.C.C.C in 1986,  Julianne embarked on the lifelong process of designing an early childhood programme that enables children the time and space to enjoy, learn and grow in a socially rich and extremely well resourced environment.

As a Registered psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a member of the Australian Psychological Society, she is a strong advocate for the mental health and well-being of children and their families, and has a particular interest in Autism Spectrum Disorder.

In addition to her role as a Director, Julianne has many years experience as a clinician in private practice and maintains a contemporary knowledge of current theory and research in the fields of psychology and cognitive -neuroscience.

Martin Kenny –B.SSc. (E.C.E)

Martin has dedicated his working life to early childhood education. In addition to his experience managing other children’s services around Adelaide, Martin has traveled extensively around the world including China, Europe and South America, gaining insight into the cultural variations and best practices of similar ECE programmes along the way. Martin has studied in the world renown, Reggio Emilia schools in Northern Italy and has spent time in schools and kindergartens in London, Hong Kong, Dublin, Shantou City and Guangzhou, China.

As the full-time Director, Martin’s particular focus is on the importance of science as a construct for learning. By using a constructivist approach as the template, and by utilising the innate curiosity of children, Martin understands that the meaningful experience of discovery is the basis for an expanding bank of knowledge in each individual.

Both Julianne and Martin have worked at FMC.C.C.C.C for over 35 years in which time they have seen hundreds of children experience enriching programmes, make lifelong friendships and develop the social skills and abilities to prepare them for successful transition to school and beyond.

FMC.C.C.C.C. is an inclusive programme that cares for children with varying special needs and will always extend our service to include and provide an enriching experience for any child regardless of their ability or extra requirements.

Unparalleled child/staff ratios, expansive natural outdoor environments and the ability to retain highly skilled and qualified staff has meant long waiting times for positions at the Centre and continues to keep FMC.C.C.C.C at the forefront of early education and care.

The Centre is open from 6.30am until 6.00pm Monday to Friday.
